Make your Outlook 2003 and 2007 PST file compatible with earlier Versions

When you are using the earlier version means before outlook 2003 sometimes you may face problem in compatibility of file with the new version. When you try to import any pst file from the outlook 2003 and outlook 2007 you may get fallowing error message-

“The file xyz .pst is not compatible with this version of the Personal Folders
information service. Contact your Administrator.”

The reason behind is that when you try to import the information from the outlook 2003 or the outlook 2007 by using the import and export wizard. The new versions of outlook use the Unicode format to export the information in the .pst file. Earlier version of outlook cannot open or import Unicode formatted .pst file. The previous versions of pst can open pst file formatted in American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format.

To work around this problem you have to change the Unicode format pst file to ANSI formatting. You have to use the pst file from the earlier version to fallow these steps
In the outlook open the file menu click data file management and add it. Open the Outlook 97-2002 Personal folder file. Then select the default file name and click ok.
Now the outlook 2003 now creates a new pst file that supports the earlier pst file and maintains the ANSI formatting for that. Then close it and the bottom of navigation panel in the folder list you will see the new pst file. Then drag all your information to existing outlook 2003 or outlook 2007 folders to the new pst file.
